A Few Swaps!
December 2, 2007 09:19 PM

I made a suggestion for a swap to one of my most favorite artists... but now I am nervous - I mean she truly is amazing... so I hope she likes what I have made her.

It is on Stampboard - which I love working on, and has nice thick sides that are great to decorate (see second photo) and the piece hangs easily on a wall.  I used one of my favorite characters - nesting girl and have her sitting on a wall of vintage wallpaper.  I made a paper ornament that has a banner and glitter letters saying "Comfort and Joy".  It was a lot of fun to make!

I also did an ornament swap and they are all ready to be shipped tomorrow - here is a photo of them in the works - they are sugar plum fairies!

I usually do not do many swaps, but I have been in a swapping mood lately!  I even convinced (though it took no arm twisting at all) Melfie to do a Christmas Music CD swap with me - since we are both Christmas music nuts!  Can not wait to get together with her and exchange (and have coconut cake - that is our thing)!

Lastly, my mom always wants me to make her Christmas cards - which I love to do - she really loved the HO HO HO Santa that is on one of my Christmas gift tags so I made here these:

Last Day for Collage Sheet Contest
February 7, 2007 11:02 AM

The contest is almost over....  Winners will be posted tomorrow am!  Today is the last day!  Tomorrow morning I will pick my favorite name from the suggestions submitted and that person will win a free sheet and some other goodies... then, the remaining names will go into a hat and 2 names will be drawn by my friend Dan (and we are using the hat his mom made for him to keep with the handmade / indie spirit) and they will also get a copy of the newly named collage sheet and some other goodies.

I have had a lot of fun with this - so I think I may have to make another collage sheet (that is not all hats or wings) so we can have this contest again!  What do you think??  And, so I can make sheets to better suit your needs - what do you look for in a collage sheet?  What do you love??

Happy Holidays!
December 24, 2006 10:46 AM

Merry Christmas everyone!  No matter what you celebrate or believe, I hope you have a wonderful rest of the year!

Here is what I have been up to...

Custom lockets made for a friend to give her family members.  The backsides have family photos.  The lockets were handmade by Bloomstyle and are sterling silver.

This collage was made for a company to display at the Craft and Hobby show in California this January.  They made this new art panel and the surface was so wonderful to work on.

That is really it.  All my Christmas shopping is done and everything is wrapped and under the tree.  I love this time of year, the goodwill of others, Christmas music, holiday decorations, seeing delight on someone's face when they open a gift I gave them...  I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Finally... A New Collage
November 14, 2006 08:02 PM

Well, it has been awhile, but here is a new collage.  It is made from all antique paper elements, a Victorian trade card, Victorian scrap, an old postcard, and old letter and some parts from an antique magazine.

I designed it with having it printed as a birthday card for the shop in mind... what do you think?

Bellaween Part Deux Kit No. 9
October 12, 2006 09:05 AM

I ordered my first ever kit from Bella Paper Studios and had so much fun with it I had to share.  There are actually three projects, and I have only completed one so far.  I added some vintage/antique paper to it (go figure) and am debating on adding wings - it is so very hard for me to create something without wings!

If you have never ordered a kit - you should - it was so fun working on it, and I look forward to the other 2 projects I still have left to do!

Oh, and here are pieces of my childhood I thought I would share...

Trick or Treat!
September 26, 2006 10:18 AM

Just a quick post!
I have been in such the Halloween spirit this year.  I made the Trick or treat collage and made little whimsy signs for some of my friends by accenting the collage with black glitter and orange crepe paper.  So far they are a big hit and I may add them to the
shop.  I also ordered some small note card flats to add to the shop and they should be in over the weekend.  back in the 1800's and early 1900's people sent cards for all holidays, including Halloween, and I love that!

More Projects...
September 7, 2006 03:16 PM

I promised projects and here are some of I am wrapping up.  Jes of Junque Revival and I have put our heads together to start creating pendants that feature prints of my collages!  they will be on sale in the upcoming month so keep your eyes peeled!

Also, I was working with the lovely Heather of Portals Zine on the Portals Zine website- she wanted something simple yet pretty so stop by and see what I came up with - and to see buying, advertising and submission options - I LOVE this zine and would love to see it supported as much as possible!  If you are interested in advertising with them - they close for the next issue this week so let them know!

Other wise it has been a busy busy week - the start of a busy busy 2 months for me!

Oh, and have you SEEN the new Orla Kiely fall line of bags?  I am drooling!

Projects, Projects and More Projects
August 26, 2006 10:42 AM

I have so many projects going on right now that I am feeling a tad bit overwhelmed.  Well I was... I got up early today and got a lot of things wrapped up.  Including a BIG project (part of it shown above) that I am involved in and have to mail out on Monday - it is all packed up and hopefully, come spring, you will see everything.  On top of this project I have been crazy filling wholesale orders and doing a bunch of custom design.  All of these things I love doing... it is just that the full time day job gets in the way!  I dream of what I could with Paper Relics if I could dedicate myself to it full time instead of when I can.  My day job has actually been extremely demanding lately and will continue to be so for another month.  In case you are curious... this is where I am 8am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday - the only difference at the moment is that all the stuff you see is boxed up since we are moving to a new building in a few weeks! (be sure to visit the actual photo on flickr to see notes):

One resource I would like to share with you that has been invaluable to me lately:  Vintage Wallpaper Ribbon Packs from Bailey's Bliss (drool) please check them out!  I have been using vintage wallpaper in so many creations lately and I love working with it.

Other news of note is that I have a few new Paper Vignettes to add soon - so keep your eyes out for them!  And I am starting to work on Holiday cards - both collage AND vignettes, which will make this the first year I will offer holiday cards.  Here is my favorite of the new patch - What do you think?
